Dr. Florence Roque
Secretary

Dr. Florence Cabalteja Roque was born in a small, rural town and raised in a metropolitan city of the Philippine islands. Today, living and practicing in Deming reminds her of similar simple rural living, while appreciating the modern conveniences of surrounding cities– Las Cruces, NM and El Paso, TX. Dr. Roque and her husband Joel are actively involved locally through the activities of their church, and internationally through their charity arm, JoFlo Outreach International (JOI) Foundation.

After high school, Dr. Roque attended and completed her bachelor’s degree at Johnson University (previously Johnson Bible College), in Knoxville, TN, with a major in Bible and Youth Ministry. While serving as a youth director for 6 years, at an inner-city church in Chicago, she met her lifetime love and now business partner, Joel Roque, who was also working with the youth and young adults at his church. During that time, it became clear to the couple that there was a great need for wholistic intervention among children and youth in the community. Hence, she continued and graduated with another bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Maternal-Child Nursing.

and finally with a doctorate’s degree in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Primary Care, with Genetics as a subspecialty, at Rush University (Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center) in the windy city, Chicago. IL. She has been nationally board-certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board since 2008, and is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

After 9 years of working in the inner-cities of Chicago, the Roques relocated for the warmer climate of Phoenix, where they stayed for 5 years. Today, with over 20 years professional experience in pediatric primary care, asthma, allergy, and congenital disorders, Dr. Roque offers extensive knowledge in prevention of acute illnesses and treatment of pediatric disorders. Her multi-cultural background enriches her expertise in communicating with children and parents from all walks of life the importance of health promotion. Dr. Roque’s wholistic approach is evident throughout the services that the clinic provides, such as well child checks, allergy testing, spirometry, referrals to pediatric specialists and collaborating with community resources.

The Roques have two adorable toy poodles, Gideon and Angel, who are therapy dogs mostly available for the post-immunization patients in the afternoon clinics. The family loves to go on hikes whenever time and weather permit. They are working to adopt a child from China soon, in hopes of experiencing first-hand, along with their clients’ families, the joys and challenges of parenting!
